TrenLab has already selected the winners for its third acceleration program

The startups have been selected from 440 applications from both national and international sources, taking into account their scalability and the value of their proposals. The acceleration program, run by Wayra Spain, will last six months and includes a prize of up to €50,000, personalized mentoring, access to Wayra's global network, and business development with Renfe. The program will continue online during the quarantine period established due to Covid-19.

ADDvance, Alteria, SigmaRail and Motion Tag are the startups chosen by TrenLab for its third call. Renfe's accelerator, developed by Wayra Spain, has selected the projects based on their scalability and the value of their proposals from among more than 440 submitted projects, 30% of which were international. Value creation in the manufacture of train parts, smart sensors, tracking solutions for passenger management, and asset geolocation are some of the solutions presented by the winners to drive Renfe's digital transformation:

  • ADDvance:Its additive manufacturing technology provides a broad and objective view on value creation. This Madrid-based startup's solution would allow Renfe to manufacture spare parts precisely when needed, at the point of consumption, with complete traceability and security. Therefore, it would address the challenge of digitalization.
  • Alteria Automation: High-tech engineering firm that develops and manufactures smart sensors and artificial intelligence models for industrial predictive maintenance. Alteria's sensors have the ability to preprocess data at the source using embedded technology and boast clients such as Repsol and Everis. Motion Tag: Based in Berlin, its technology provides a holistic view of mobility and how people move. They are proposing a tracking solution to Renfe to address issues such as ticketing, customer service, online marketing, and access control.
  • SigmaRail: applies its technology developed in Madrid to the geolocation of assets, to the observation of the infrastructure for the support of maintenance tasks and to the control of passengers in stations.
winners third edition TrenLab

The projects have been chosen by a jury made up of Renfe and Telefónica executives as well as several experts of the entrepreneurial ecosystem. The winners will receive a prize of up to €50,000 and will participate in a personalized six-month program led by top experts and mentors. The prize also offers them access to the global networks of Telefónica and Renfe, as well as the opportunity to develop business relationships with both companies.

TrenLab was created within the framework of the South Summit 2018, with the aim of driving Renfe's digital transformation and strengthening its position in the face of the upcoming liberalization of the passenger rail market. The winners of this edition now take up the mantle from the participants in the first two editions of TrenLab: Limmat Group, Zeleros, Iomob, Nixi1, Imotion Analytics, Obuu, Ossicles, and Showleap. During their time in the acceleration program, these startups connected with leaders in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, worked on business development with Renfe, and received individualized training in financing, sales, team building, branding, networking, communication, and other key areas for scaling their startups. Specifically, Iomob is currently developing the proof of concept for Renfe's Mobility as a Service (RaaS) platform. Limmat, also a participant in the first edition, is developing a pilot project with Renfe for an intelligent maintenance platform for the 598 and 599 series.
