  • MITO AI is a startup founded by Spanish talent specializing in AI applied to professional audiovisual production, which helps companies, filmmakers, brands, and agencies create high-quality content more agilely and efficiently.

  • With this investment, Wayra joins a shareholding that already includes benchmark investors such as Lightspeed Venture Partners, Everywhere Ventures, Sequoia Capital Scouts, A16Z Scouts, Kibo Ventures, and Kfund.

  • Among the projects developed by the company, the recent Movistar Plus campaign created with generative AI linked to the Spanish National Football Team and its participation in the FIFA World Cup stands out.

Wayra, Telefónica's corporate venture capital, has invested in MITO AI, a startup founded by Spanish talent with offices in San Francisco and Madrid, specializing in artificial intelligence for professional audiovisual creation and production. Its platform helps companies, filmmakers, brands, and agencies create high-quality content with greater agility, efficiency, scalability, and creative control.

With this investment, Wayra reinforces its commitment to technologies with the capacity to transform industries and redefine how companies operate. MITO AI operates in one of the segments with the greatest potential within generative AI, contributing to redefining the way audiovisual content is conceived, produced, and delivered, from films to advertisements or music videos.

Through this operation, Wayra joins MITO AI's shareholder base alongside international investors such as Lightspeed Venture Partners, Everywhere Ventures, Sequoia Scouts, A16Z Scouts, and LifeX, as well as Spanish funds such as Kibo Ventures and Kfund.

MITO AI has developed a new generation of artificial intelligence tools applied to professional audiovisual creation. Its platform allows filmmakers, audiovisual production companies, brands, and creative teams to collaborate in real-time within the same workspace. MITO provides these professionals with an integrated management environment for audiovisual production and creation work, from the initial briefing to the delivery of the final piece. In addition, the company has MITO Films, its own production studio, and MITO Tools, a SaaS platform designed to facilitate end-to-end content generation with AI.

Among the projects developed by the company, the campaign for Movistar Plus created with generative AI linked to the Spanish National Football Team and its participation in the FIFA World Cup stands out, in addition to other work for Movistar Plus, Telefónica Tech, as well as benchmark brands and organizations such as Zara, Repsol, and Dellafuente.

Wayra reaffirms its commitment to identifying and scaling startups capable of generating value for Telefónica, connecting the entrepreneurial ecosystem with real business needs, and accelerating the adoption of innovative technologies. At the same time, the operation reinforces its commitment to Spanish technological talent and to companies with the capacity to compete and grow internationally.

“At Wayra, we look for startups capable of anticipating new technological categories and, at the same time, generating real collaboration opportunities with Telefónica, aligned with the company’s purpose of being the best gateway to digital technologies. MITO AI combines a very clear vision for the future of audiovisual production with artificial intelligence, a solid founding team, and an execution capability that has already been proven with major brands and Group units. For us, this investment represents precisely the type of innovation we want to boost: differential technology, applicable to business, and with scale potential,” states Paloma Castellano, Director of Investment at Wayra.

"The support from Wayra and the opportunity to continue collaborating with Movistar Plus, with some of the most demanding use cases in audiovisual production, advertising, and entertainment, make this partnership a strategic step for MITO AI. It is a unique opportunity to build the future of audiovisual creation with artificial intelligence together," highlights Iñaki Berenguer, co-founder and CEO of MITO AI.
