Madrid, September 30, 2019.- Wayra, Telefónica's open innovation hub, will be present at the new edition of South Summit with 11 startups in IoT, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Fintech, Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Virtual Reality, and Business Services coming from Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Barcelona and Madrid. Wayra will have a prominent presence on the event's agenda with speakers such as Miguel Arias, Telefónica's global director of entrepreneurship, who on October 1st will share, at the South Summit Open Innovation Forum, along with Javier Perea, CEO of Smart Protection, and Nicolás Gatica, head of expansion at Increase, the keys to successfully scaling a startup in the panel “Elephants dancing with gazelles. Collaboration as a strategy”. On the same day, Paloma Castellano, director of Wayra Madrid, will participate in the In3 breakout sessions with Juan de Antonio, CEO of Cabify, and Alejandro Artacho, CEO of Spotahome. On October 2nd, at 1:35 PM on the Arena Stage, Miguel Arias will share his insights on what he has learned after making his first 50 investments as Telefónica's global director of entrepreneurship. That same day, Agustín Rotondo, country manager of Wayra Argentina, will moderate a panel on attracting top talent for scaling, while Claudio Barahona, country manager of Wayra Chile, will lead a discussion on the internationalization of startups. Guenia Gawendo, director of investments and scouting at Telefónica, will explain her experience managing Telefónica's funds and the group's scouting offices in Silicon Valley, China, and Israel. Wayra will also be part of the EnlightED Awards, presenting the Wayra ‘Most Scalable EdTech Startups’ award to the education sector startups with the greatest growth potential. Promoted by Fundación Telefónica, IE University, Fundación Santillana, and South Summit, enlightED will feature the participation of thinkers and innovators such as Niall Ferguson, Patricia Kuhl, Ju-Ho Lee, Simon Nelson, Kelly Palmer, and Tal Ben-Sahar, who will answer questions such as: What are the ethical limits of technology? How do we prepare schools for 2030? How do we train professionals in the age of artificial intelligence?
