Spanish tennis and cutting-edge technology join forces to offer fans a unique experience. In a pioneering agreement, the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) and the Spanish-American company Yerbabuena VR (YBVR), partly owned by Wayra, will work together to broadcast the season's major events in virtual reality and 360º.
The RFET and YBVR will provide tennis fans with both pre-recorded video clips and live broadcasts in 8K quality, a first for live events. The federation is thus joining forces with the leading company in the development of immersive sports experiences. YBVR broadcast the last edition of the Mutua Madrid Open in virtual reality and next week will bring its technology to a Grand Slam for the first time, offering the best matches of the Australian Open from Melbourne. Thanks to this agreement, the RFET will have access to the latest technology to promote Spanish tennis at all the events it organizes, seeking attractive experiences for fans whether they choose to enjoy them from home or in person at the events. Fans will be able to access Tennis VR Zones to enjoy live matches and exclusive tournament content. YBVR will provide the RFET with VR headsets to view 360º content and some immersive video content for the promotion of the product and its technology at all RFET venues. The agreement will allow fans, players, and coaches to follow matches as if they were courtside, thanks to the installation of 360° and 180° cameras in strategic positions. The Instant Camera Change technology, which allows users to instantly select the camera direction they are interested in at any given moment, will offer the possibility of following the action on the court, the atmosphere in the stands, and the events organized around the competition in detail, facilitating an immersive, high-resolution 8K live streaming experience without interruptions. This can also be followed through traditional TV channels, mobile devices, or platforms such as YouTube. The agreement reached by the RFET with YBVR is valid for two years and aims to improve the fan experience and attract new fans to the world of tennis.
