Wayra Spain, Telefónica's open innovation hub, participated in the funding round alongside BStartup from Banc Sabadell and Stornoway Investments, as well as a group of business angels from the UK and Luxembourg. The round will help boost the startup's expansion in both Europe and the United States.

To mark Women Entrepreneurs Week, Wayra is launching its first Co-Investment Day to jointly invest in women-led startups. Telefónica's open innovation hub is supported for this event by Caixa Capital Risk, Inveready, JME, Kibo Ventures, Nekko Capital, Sabadell, Swanlaa, and The Venture City.

The AVE high-speed train from Madrid to Barcelona will be transformed into a space for innovation, work and creation on November 29th during the first Hackathon of TrenLab, Renfe's startup accelerator developed by Wayra España, Telefónica's open innovation hub.

Barcelona hosts the new edition of Wayra Investor Days for two days, an event that attracts 100 investors with a portfolio of more than 2 billion euros to the city.

TrenLab, Renfe's startup accelerator developed by Wayra, has selected four startups to enter its second acceleration program. Noise-free trains, smart stations that measure passenger flow in real time, optimized real-time operations, and immediate sign language translation are some of the solutions presented by the winning startups—Imotion Analytics, Obuu, Ossicles, and Showleap—to drive Renfe's digital transformation.

Wayra4Women, an event promoting female entrepreneurship, brought together eight female entrepreneurs and eight investment groups in Barcelona through a speed meeting format. Wayra, Telefónica's open innovation hub, organized the event at Utopicus Glòries, where the startups presented their projects to major investment funds. In addition, an audience of over sixty people heard from five women in a roundtable discussion where they shared their successes leading entrepreneurial projects.

Wayra Spain has joined forces with Thinkids to collaborate on the upcoming IFEMA Thinkids Campus 2019, a summer program designed to train future entrepreneurial leaders. With this initiative, Telefónica's open innovation hub goes beyond investing in mature, technology-based startups, contributing to the strengthening of the Spanish entrepreneurial ecosystem and the startup culture among young Spaniards.
