Wayra, Telefónica's corporate venture capital arm, is investing again in the Argentinian startup Wise CX, which has a multi-channel customer service platform focused on large and medium-sized companies.

ÍopeVentures, the investment vehicle launched by Wayra and Telefónica Seguros to invest in B2B startups in the fintech and insurtech sectors, announces its investment in Weecover, a leading Spanish technology platform for embedded insurance distribution. Embedded insurance is an innovative way to integrate insurance products and services directly into the purchasing experience of other, non-insurance-related products or services.

Wayra, Telefónica's corporate venture capital arm, invested €9.3 million globally in 2024, reaching 37 startups across various sectors. Of these, Wayra Spain invested over €2 million in 15 startups, focusing a significant portion of its investment on digitizing traditional sectors such as banking, insurance, and healthcare. To achieve this, they have leveraged cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence and SaaS systems.

Venture on the Road continues its tour across Spain, with its next stop being Zaragoza on January 16th to search for the most disruptive startups in Aragon. Seville, Bilbao, Girona, and Alicante will be the next cities to host the traveling event, following its previous stop in Gijón. Venture on the Road is looking for talent at a regional level, beyond Madrid and Barcelona, ​​the two leading technology hubs in Spain.

Gijón será la primera ciudad de esta edición de Venture On the Road que continuará su recorrido por: Zaragoza, Sevilla, Bilbao, Girona y Alicante. La gran final tendrá lugar en mayo de 2025 en Madrid donde se escogerá el ganador nacional entre los vencedores de cada parada. Además de los organizadores habituales, Google Cloud se estrena esta edición como colaborador de este evento itinerante. Las inscripciones para las startups asturianas ya están abiertas desde hoy hasta el 26 de noviembre.

Participan también en la operación Grupo Ribera y Angels. Tras la adquisición, realizada a través de Mutua Ventures, la aseguradora se convierte en el principal socio financiero de Legit.Health.

Los tres ganadores del evento Innomakers4Health se repartirán, entre otros beneficios, un premio por valor de 6.000€. Esta edición ha sido organizada por Wayra, Pfizer y Fundación Pfizer y ha reunido a más de 100 emprendedores. Los participantes han presentado sus proyectos respondiendo al reto de cómo combatir eficazmente la multirresistencia antimicrobiana a través de la mejora del diagnóstico, tratamiento y buen uso de antibióticos

Wayra joins other renowned international investors who are also betting on Perplexity's growth and expansion. Telefónica has closed a global commercial agreement with Perplexity to offer the service to its customers in some of the main markets where the operator has a presence, and is also launching a living app that is already available in the Movistar Plus+ catalog.
