Wayra, Telefónica's open innovation hub, invested a total of €4.5 million in 39 startups across Europe and Latin America in 2020. Of the total invested by Wayra globally, €1.8 million was invested in 15 startups in Spain, a 29% increase over the previous year. The projects are related to artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, video, virtual reality, cybersecurity, connectivity, data analytics, and fintech.

Wayra X, Telefónica's 100% digital global hub, has made an investment in Nannyfy, the educational technology platform -edtech- where children can enjoy online content led by nannies or babysitters, experts in different subjects, along with other children of the same age.

Proppos, a Catalan startup specializing in food recognition using artificial intelligence, has closed a €750,000 funding round led by BStartup of Banco Sabadell and with participation from Wayra Spain, Telefónica's innovation hub.
