In 2021 GE Healthcare UK chose Wayra as a strategic partner to launch Edison Accelerator, a programme to encourage AI in medicine. The Edison Accelerator programme aimed to expedite, validate and scale innovative AI solutions for the health sector.

From Wayra we drove 2 cohorts of the programme, each of which had at least  6 startups. All of the start-ups were artificial intelligence (AI) focused, specifically looking at AI to augment medical imaging. This hoped to improve patient care by changing the way healthcare is delivered, allowing clinicians to spend more direct time on patient care and ultimately reduce burnout. The companies were chosen based on proposed solutions to current problems in healthcare.
